I am test-driving the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4WD Crew Cab ZR2 Bison Edition, powered by the optional 6.6 Litters Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 engine. From the first minute you see this massive truck from the outside you understand that power is something that you won’t be missing when driving the 2500. As I enter the cabin for the first time the dashboard is impressive and larger than previous generations with a very good and modern interior look. Seats in the front row and second row are also very large and comfortable.
The Chevy Silverado has become an American Idol, evolving from generation to generation with those who love to have a sporty and strong truck with a very attractive exterior design that reminds you of American freedom and country style.
As you drive the 2500 Silverado, you are sitting in a very high position with an excellent view of the road and everything around you, this truck is much taller than other trucks or SUVs, and you feel you are at the top of the mountain driving the powerful 2500 Silverado ZR2 Bison Edition.
You can buy the base, 15000 Silverado starting at almost $40K, but if you need a lower price range Chevrolet also gives you the option of a lower price than the Silverado, The Chevrolet Colorado, with a starting price of $29,500.
The image and brand name of the Silverado is what most drivers want, we automatically think of the Silverado as the way to go when we talk about Chevy trucks, and if you can afford it, starting at $43K, the Silverado Heavy Duty is the winner.
Competitors of the Silverado, like the Ford F-250 Super Duty and Ram 2500 are tough players in the Heavy Duty pickup truck segment.
For some drivers, Silverado is the way to go, but others prefer Ford or Ram, each truck has its own fans and followers.
Silverado fans have been waiting for a change, for a new Silverado, and the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD is finally getting the comprehensive upgrade it desperately needed, with all sorts of powertrain, interior and exterior upgrades.

The Silverado ZR2 trim is offered exclusively in the 2500 Crew Cab configuration, with a standard 6.6 L gasoline engine or optionally available 6.6 L Duramax Turbo-Diesel.

What do you get with the HD ZR2 and ZR2 Bison?
While the revised exterior and updated powertrains are great upgrades, the most significant improvement in the Silverado ZR2 is in the interior of the 2500 HD.
On most models, the Silverado 2500 HD is equipped with the high-tech interior design that first appeared on the refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500.
The vertically oriented center console and small 8-inch screen are replaced with a horizontal layout that plays into the 2500HD’s sense of width.
The new modern touchscreen now measures 13.4 inches diagonally and has a high-resolution display that mocks the interface it replaces.
Other upgrades include rear air vents and climate controls, a redesigned center console, a wireless charging pad, and new materials such as real wood trim on upper models that make the new Chevy look premium and modern.
The Silverado ZR2 modifications start with the Multimatic shock absorbers. The same company that developed Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) shocks, first seen on the 2014 Camaro Z/28 and used in the current light-duty version of the Silverado ZR2, has adapted the same technology to the new HD ZR2 Silverado.
The advantages of DSSV shocks are essentially greater tuning variability to control damping.
The result is more precision and better control both on and off the road, according to Chevy.
The new shocks combine with a 1.5-inch lift to give a very high total ground clearance of 11.6 inches on the standard ZR2 and 11.7 inches on the Bison. It is very tall, it feels like a monster truck.
The new ZR2 also gets a larger steel underbody skid plate to protect the transfer case and an aluminum front skid plate. An electronic locking rear differential completes the modifications.
Both the standard ZR2 and the Bison ride on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires.

This is a very popular model, it is the base model with a smaller size and engine, but still a very capable truck. Starting at $38,795.
Silverado EV
The electric Silverado will be available very soon, but not yet. I can’t wait to test-drive it once it becomes available.
Silverado Heavy Duty, 2500 and 35000
This is the most powerful Silverado, the one I am test driving, and it is ready for any work, super heavy loads, and heavy trailers. The Silverado heavy-duty is also ready to drive on any off-road and because of its large size, you can bring all the crew in your driving cabin and have them enjoy plenty of space that you can not get in any other car.

In general, the Silverado 2500 has models starting at $43K, but the model I am test driving, the Silverado 2500 4WD Crew Cab ZR2 Bison Edition I a driving costs around $95,000 with all the packages and extras including the 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 engine and Allison 10-speed automatic transmission, Bison Edition upgrade, and other optional features.
If you are ready to spend $100K and have a top-of-the-line truck the ZR2 Bison can be a great choice.
